Marble Arch tube station

The Marble Arch is an underground station in London in the City of Westminster. The station is on the central line, and is in the Travelcard zone 1 between Lancaster Gate and Bond Street. The address of the station is Marble Arch Station, London Underground Ltd; Oxford Street, London, W1C 1CX.The station was opened on 30 July 1900 by the Central London Railway. Though it was facilitated by lifts when it was built like all the other stations in CLR but the station was reconstructed in the 1930s to accommodate escalators.

After this the original building was closed which was situated on the corner of the Quebec Street and Oxford Street, then a replacement subsurface ticket hall was opened further in the west. This new system was started from 15 August 1932. Later the original building was broken. The platforms were designed originally with plain white tiles but later it was refitted with decorative vitreous enamel panels in 1985. The station is named after the nearest Marble Arch and it is situated on the north east side of the Marble Arch junction, at the western end of Oxford Street. The shunting neck is in the west of the station, which is used to terminate the trains from Oxford Circus. The opening timing of the ticket office is Monday-Friday (7.00-22.00), Saturday (8.30-21.15), Sunday (8.15-22.30).The station provides various facilities including gates, escalators, Wi-Fi, payphones and the Ticket Halls.
