Odeon Marble Arch

When I first started to research London and I started to spend time in the city and experience what I was preaching I found that there were many things that kept coming back to me and kept on surfacing, one of those things that is still close to the top of my list is The Marble Arch. To begin with it didn’t appeal to me or have much significance, and for this reason I started t do my research on the Arch and soon became fascinated, that this creation never got to stand as proud as it once should have, and the true reasons for creation where never met.

Whilst on my research bender I was sat in a coffee shop, it was then I heard someone discussing the Marble Arch and with it popped up the world Odeon, I got excited thinking I had missed something so I put it together and thought Odeon, Marble Arch, what could this be and what secrets does it hold and what information can this offer me, I made notes and set off out to see what I could discover, it was then when I was really excited and knew that I was close to something that I saw it, the Odeon cinema complex. Needless to say I was disappointed and laughed at myself for not realizing this earlier.

My point being that you don’t always have to look between the lines to see exactly what it is in front of you, it goes without saying that my hotel close to Odeon Marble Cinema was a waste. I had high hopes, and after a few minutes I was no longer disappointed that I had not found some mystical historical building, it was laughable and made me happy.

I like to make the most of every opportunity and thought there might be a dedication inside, I found that the cinema was originally the Regal, opening in 1928, within six months of opening it was under-going offers and was eventually taken over by ABC Cinemas, they kept a hold of it until 1945 when Odeon took over and have owned it ever since. Originally it was seen as a wonderful asset to the West End and it show cased many productions. It is still a popular choice of cinema complex’s to date.

If you are in the area and you have time to see a film then this is the cinema for you, make sure you make the most of every experience and at every opportunity just as I did, you never know what you might find or stumble across.
