There is always someone who has tried to expose London and make it vulnerable, there is no secret or mystery in this, there have been 5 key incidents that have taken place throughout the city, it has been destroyed and had to be re built, not only in bricks and water but in population and faith.

Guy Fawkes – We all know bonfire night and most of us celebrate by setting off fireworks, having a fire and throwing on our own Guy Fawkes. The tradition that is celebrated in England only dates back to 1605, it was when Guy Fawkes himself planned on blowing up the houses of parliament, he made gun powder tracks in the tunnels below and intended on blowing everything up, he didn’t get this far dut to being caught.

The plague – The Great Plague, 1665-1666, this was the first recorded incident of mass death within the city, the Plague killed an estimated 100,000 people in the city alone, this was approximately 15% of the overall population, it adopted the name ‘black death’ and was spread by the bite of a rat flea.

The great fire of London – Just as the Plague was coming to an end in London, they could not predict what was about to happen next, the great fire of London which started in a bakery at approximately 1:00am on Pudding Lane and spread through the city. The fire consumed 13.200 houses, 87 parish churches, most of the buildings that homed the cities official business, the old St Pauls Cathedral and the homes of approximately 70.000 people, remember there were only 80,000 recorded inhabitants in the city.

World War II London–It was in 1940 when London first came under attack from the Germans, London was bombed and attacked 71 times over a 36-37 week period, the effects of the devastation and destruction remained for many years, yet another re build of the city had to take place.

Terrorist London–This is probably the one that most of us remember clear as day, back in 2007 when terrorist planned and took out several attacks in London and throughout the city. It was a heartless and callous attack that probably could never have been prevented, we just have to be great full that the effects weren’t more damaging.

Each of these attacks have caused the city to be re built and to be as strong as it is today, it is a city that people return to and love, there are no mysteries here, just remember when you are at the marble arch hotel London, oxford street, Hyde park, St Pauls Cathedral, the River Thames, or the houses of parliament, they all have a significance in history, and we beautiful as they might be today they are all survivors.
